About Pierpont Music

My purpose is to provide an opportunity for students to enjoy participating in and learning about music.  My curriculum is based on the California Standards.
I’ve been teaching and directing musical groups since 1971, and I’ve taught grades k through 14 (community college).
During the first semester I teach grades k-2, and I teach grades 3-5 during the second semester. I use fun and interesting activities to make learning enjoyable; most students like my class.
Kids learn to play instruments including the recorder, xylophone, handbells and rhythm instruments. They learn singing technique and basic performance skills that help them communicate. The find out about several genres of music and a few of the great composers.
My students are better prepared for middle school music programs than students from other schools in the district and I encourage them to continue learning and enjoying music as a lifelong activity.
